GOOD TASTE - The Perfect Lemonade

when life gives you lemons...

Make lemonade.

Prep time: 10 minutes

Yield: Serves 6

INGREDIENTS
1 cup sugar (can reduce to 3/4 cup)
1 cup water (for the simple syrup)
1 cup lemon juice
3 to 4 cups cold water (to dilute)

DIRECTIONS
1. Make a simple syrup by heating the sugar and water in a small pot until the sugar is dissolved completely.

2. While the sugar is dissolving, use a juicer to extract the juice from 4 to 6 lemons, enough for one cup of juice. (Or you can even use shop bought lemon juice).

3. Add the juice and the sugar water to a jug or dispenser. Add 3 to 4 cups of cold water, more or less to the desired strength. Refrigerate 30 to 40 minutes. If the lemonade is a little sweet for your taste, add a little more straight lemon juice to it.

4. Serve with ice and sliced lemons.

GOOD LOOKS - The Great Gatsby

greatness

The Great Gatsby premiers today, and to say I am excited is an understatement. The film promises to be the hit of the year, and I think (considering it has already for the past year) has a huge influence on décor and design for parties (amongst other things).

Are you looking for inspiration? Check our our Art Deco inspired Good Plan here and we have a new collection Monochrome Magic that is just made for a 1920s premier party!

GOOD ON PAPER - Mothers Day Goodies

for your Mom

Inspired by the Meri Meri Love in the Afternoon Collection, we created a matching Mothers Day card and patterned paper for us to create a little treats tray for your Mom tomorrow.

THE CARD
The card can be printed at home in under a minute, or if you are like me and your Mom is far away you can send the graphic image in an email with your message below.

THE COFFEE
Give your Mom her favourite beverage nice and hot, with a patterned paper band. You can also cut out little food flags to top of a stack of mini sugar dusted doughnuts.

THE PANCAKES

For breakfast we made a stack of flapjacks with fresh raspberries and cream, on the pretty plates and napkins from Meri Meri. And for a similar look use the patterned paper to line a breakfast tray and wrap a band around a plain napkin.

THE GIFT
For the pressie, use the patterned paper to wrap the gift. If your pressie is small it will be easy to print the paper at home on your printer using normal thin paper. But if you have a big gift you may need to have the design printed on bigger paper - great thing is our file can be printed as big as you like without loosing any resolution. One can also use the paper to wrap around a bouquet or vase of flowers for a co-ordinating look.

GOOD TO KNOW - How to Edit Photos

picmonkey

My friend Debbie of Cook Culinary Studio in South Africa, just shared the most amazing little tool. All of the details are on her blog, but I figure these pics will convince you to go and actually check it out. It is a picture editing tool online and free that suddenly is going to make our new blog party series that much more exciting don't you think?

GOOD EVENTS - Snaps of the Show

our stall

On Sunday, we exhibited at the Expat Expo and had a great time. Our stand followed along the lines of a traditional BAKE SALE albeit their were no actual baked goods but lots of things to bake with. All our ranges come with lovely cupcake kits so we were able to showcase our wide range of designs in stock as well as encourage people to get baking.

We also did a mini lemonade stand and this week I will share more detailed photos of how to create your own Lemonade Stand, plus the perfect lemonade recipe!
